Our History

For more than 50 years, REACH Inc. has been at the forefront of supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities in Klamath County, offering comprehensive, personalized programs that foster independence, connection, and fulfillment. The organization traces its roots to 1968, when founder Zelda Langdale established the Klamath Work Activity Center, an effort that gave adults with developmental disabilities their first local opportunities for skill-building, purposeful work, and community inclusion. Zelda believed deeply in the abilities of every person, and her early work challenged long-held social attitudes while opening doors for meaningful participation in community life.

Building on Zelda’s legacy, REACH became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1987 and has continued to grow alongside the needs of our region. Today, we provide holistic support to more than 100 adults each year through employment programs, skill-building services, and community-based enterprises. While our programs have evolved, the heart of REACH remains the same: creating a place where every person is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
